We'll watch this video, Cooking with Nate.  


Vocabulary:

1. texture: the feeling of the food (i.e. soft, hard, mushy, creamy, crunchy, smooth etc.)
Ex. An apple has a sweet taste and a crunchy texture.  Ice cream has a smooth or creamy texture.  

2. to slice (something): to cut something into pieces 

3. to dip (something): to put the food into something else (i.e. people dip their French Fries into ketchup) 

4. flour: white powder used to make bread 

5. curry powder: a powder with a spicy flavor 

6. a mixture: a combination of two or more things 

7. a sauce pan: a pan you cook things with on top of a stove

8. A stove: the top part of the oven where you heat food

9. to flip (something): to turn it over (i.e. people flip pancakes when they cook them

10. a spatula: a utensil used for flipping 

11. ideal: perfect 


Discussion: 

1. What texture do you like for food?

2. Do you cook with flour a lot?  What things do you cook?

3. What do you like to dip your food into?

4. What do you make on the stove?



Homework: What is a recipe you have for a dish you like to make?  It can be any kind of dish, simple or complex.
